Program Director

Job Summary:
Overlook Retreat & Camp Ministries is seeking dynamic applicants to consider the position of Program Director for Camp Overlook. Working in collaboration with the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for planning and overseeing the day-to-day summer camp program and retreat season. Oversight includes program design, implementation, and marketing communications. This position is directly involved in the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of summer camp staff and volunteers. Camp Overlook is a four-season facility, specializing in Summer Camp and seasonal outdoor retreats. The property is located on 161 acres in Keezletown, VA.
Classification: Full time, Year Round
Preferred Qualifications:

Compensation & Benefits:
Summer Camp Responsibilities: In partnership with the ED
· Oversee marketing plan for summer camp including creation of print material, email, and social media outlets.
· Build registration each season for campers and staff applications.
· Recruit, interview, and hire a full summer camp staff roster based off of camper registration.
· Develop and implement a 2 week staff orientation program.
· Implement staff evaluations with every staff member throughout the summer and keep evaluation reports filed.
· Supervise all program areas and provide coaching throughout the summer.
· Work with local outfitters to schedule proper staff training and camper program experiences.
· Plan staff closing ceremonies.
· Develop a Leadership Development program.
· Coordinate camp program schedules with Food Service.
· Have an understanding of Food Service program and safe practices.
· Report facility concerns to Executive Director
· Debrief each week of camp with staff and campers with an evaluation of some type.
· Create and send out summer camp evaluations for camper families.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree. Preferred focus in recreation, hospitality or education preferred, or at least 3-5 years of related work experience.
- Strong leadership and delegation skills that can be clearly executed while supporting a committed and enthusiastic staff.
- Previous leadership experience in a children’s camp program.
- Excellent written skills that helps customers understand our policies, procedures, expectations and requirements.
- Strategic, intentional mindset towards finding solutions
- Strong attention to detail
- Certified in CPR & First Aid or ability to attain.
- Experience in website development, marketing, and communications.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Responsible To: Executive Director- Overlook Retreat & Camp Ministries
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $34,000
- On-site housing year round: no rent and utilities are covered
- When the camp kitchen is in operation meals are provided
- 14 days of paid time off
- Lodging for family visits/events if facilities are available

- Host groups as needed
- Receive training areas of camp that require it and assist with programming when needed.
- Proficient with basic computer skills and software operations.
- Development of advertising strategies and opportunities
- Basic website management.
- Implantation of youth and adult District retreats.
- Develop summer camp programs.
- Assist in upkeep of buildings, grounds, and facilities.
- Visit local churches to promote Camp Overlook
- Attend Board Meetings as needed.
Other Job Duties:
- Participate as a member of the management team as needed to ensure the integration of program and property in order to deliver a program that meets the needs of campers and the organization’s mission.
- Assist in representing Overlook to local businesses and other related groups.
- Attend staff meetings schedule in advance by the Executive Director.
