Rev Chad Hrbek was named the is the Executive Director for Overlook Retreat and Camp
Ministries, commonly known as Camp Overlook in May of 2024. Chad grew up in Front Royal,
VA attending Front Royal United Methodist Church and attended Overlook as a child and youth.
During college at James Madison University, where Chad studied Hospitality and Tourism
Management, he was very active in the Wesley Foundation during the school year a Counselor
at Overlook during the summer. During a summer when Chad was doing an internship he
volunteered a week at Camp where he realized he was called to use his Hospitality degree for
the church and not the corporate world. After graduating from JMU Chad attended Union
Presbyterian Seminary where he earned his Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Christian
Education. Chad came back to camp one more summer during seminary to serve as the
Summer Program Director.
Chad has been serving churches in the Virginia Conference since before graduating from
Seminary. He has worked as a Youth Director, Director of Program Ministries, Associate Pastor,
and Pastor. Chad also was the Chaplain at Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal and
worked in the Winchester and then the Shenandoah River District Office as a Director of
Connectional Ministries. While at RMA Chad lead the Voices of Youth for two of their Summer
Mission Trips and he also was the Director of Summer Project Youth (SPY) for one summer.
Chad is a member of the Rotary Club of Rockingham County and works with the Open Table
Network. In his free time, Chad enjoys being outside, particularly near water or doing yard work.
He also tries to watch his 6 nieces and nephews in as many of their activities as possible.
